Taiwan is nothing like you imagine. And that's exactly the point.
My Story
I'm Yuchen. I grew up in Kaohsiung, in the south of Taiwan, then spent nearly five years living and working across China, the Philippines, and the US, in cross-border e-commerce with Shopee, Alibaba, and Trip.com. That work taught me how differently travelers from different countries actually move through a place.
I travel deep, not fast: always by public transport, working out every train, hostel, and backup plan myself, on trips from the Scottish Highlands to EBC to over 50 of Taiwan's highest peaks. That's where I learned exactly where a trip can fall apart, and how to plan around it before it does.
Everywhere I went, whenever I met someone new, I kept running into the same thing: nobody knew how good Taiwan really was.
Not because they didn't care. They'd simply never had the chance to find out. To most people outside Asia, Taiwan is small, speaks Chinese, and has something to do with China. The whisky distilleries that hold their own against Scotland, the high-mountain teas that rival Sri Lanka, the dramatic coastlines, the food that makes you go quiet mid-bite: all of it, invisible.
My Mission
That's what BraveOn is.
your Taiwan travel advisor. Taiwan isn't one thing you can sum up in a highlight reel, it's hundreds of small, beautiful details, and every traveler needs a different set of them. I plan and pressure test trips around who you actually are, checked against real, on the ground knowledge, right now. Before BraveOn existed, I was already answering these questions for strangers on Reddit, you'll find me there as u/Prior-Grapefruit7564 in r/Taiwan and a few other subs. This site is just where I do it properly.
My Promise
You've probably seen it: a traveler outside a restaurant, phone raised, frantically translating a menu, still completely lost. Apps can translate characters.
They can't tell you this place is worth the queue, that one closed last month, or that the night market is better on Thursdays.
That's the layer I add. Every trip I plan is built around you, your pace, your dates, your interests and checked against what's actually open, running, and worth it right now, not what a blog said two years ago.
